Engage Worship has pointed to a composer who plans to post a piece of music every day during Lent. Rather than give something, Sunil Chandy want to do something for Lent. On Ash Wednesday, he described his project like this:
Lent has started. So I thought that instead of giving up something I would actually do something. I’m going to try and put up a new piece of music every day of Lent and write a short reflection on the wilderness experience. The music will be mostly incomplete pieces and ideas which are yet to be developed.
Perhaps not every day’s music will be to everyone’s taste, but I do find this project fascinating. I don’t know if he is using a particular lectionary or just what comes to his mind on the day, but he uses some story or scripture passage to inspire him. I quite like this one that he did on Day 5, which he says, ‘tries to picture Elijah trying to listen through the earthquake, the wind and the fire.’
