This morning a hymn I chose wasn’t singable/playable, so the organist and I chose a different one instead. We chose ‘Alleluia Sing to Jesus‘. I haven’t sung this in a while, but I finally noticed verse 2:
Alleluia! not as orphans are we left in sorrow now;
Alleluia! He is near us, faith believes, nor questions how;
Though the cloud from sight received Him when the forty days were o’er
Shall our hearts forget His promise, “I am with you evermore”?
I was a little caught off guard by the thought that questioning seems out if faith believes. So, what is this song trying to say? Is this saying we should have a simple blind faith or is it trying in poetic form to say that how God is near us remains a mystery?
